Me neither.
Mr Kirby is the man who drew household names such as charecters of Fantastic Four, Spiderman, X-Men, Captain America, Avengers, Nick Fury, ManHunter, Silver Surfer, Incredible Hulk, Magneto, Dr Doom amongst many others & DC's Fourth World.
And I always thought Stan Lee was the Man!.
I found out about Jacob Kirby due to this piece in the NYTimes.
He also has a wiki entry so do check that out as well.
Next time you here about one of your childhood hero's---or notice Stan Lee's cameo in one of the Marvel films, make sure you smile one for Kirby :).

Sure it does have some sweet features....As an iPod & the screen implementation --(the problems with those are pretty well documented as well)--, but s60 users had a full browser, multimedia player, good av support & services & a plethora of apps & services for years. The browser on the s60 devices was created on the same open source sdk's as Safari & can handle almost all full size webpages. I could go on all day!. On the n95 topic, im glad I held back since Nokia is releasing a 8gb black version with better battery life! (Woohoo!). Hopefully they improve the keypad like they have with the multimedia keys. 8/20/2007 Mandy Moore - UmbrellaMandy Moore is CUTE!.....Rihanna is scary! (imho--you may have a thing for tranny's!).
Umbrella is a cool song & has to be the most covered track of 2007.
Here's Mandy's version:
What do you think?. Not bad eh? (I have heard worse covers of the song, this one's decent).
Rock & GrohlI Love FOO FIGHTERS!
They have a new album coming out next month Echos, Silence, Paitence & Grace.
The first single "Pretender" if f***ing awsome & I've posted it on Skydrive. Download it.
Dave Grohl, the former Nirvana drummer created the band by mistake.
He released a 7' of his own material. Doing all the producing, bass, drums & vocals himself.
The work got so popular that soon record labels were pounding on his door with a contract.
The rest is pretty much history!.

I have the 2004 Annual of this & its one of the best comics in recent time. Dark, very graphic and a gripping read. The movie is being produced under Sam Raimi. […] Futura said the study of 108 healthy couples showed its CSD500 condom helped men to get a firmer erection compared with a standard condom, increased penis size and made the sexual experience last longer, delivering statistically significant results. The condom has a small amount of gel in its peak that dilates the arteries and increases blood flow to the penis "Reuters. 8/15/2007 Im not Alone! * , *I've always found Augest to be the most long, boring & down right depressing month of the year.
Validation in the form of David Plotz in Slate is pretty high up there.
Read up on all the horrible stuff thats happened in this dreaded month over the years.
From Hiroshima-Nagasaki to the Iraq's invasion of Iraq!.
Plenty more on the list. Hope Springs Eternal? Two brilliant contributions in today's NY Times.
The first is by Ramachandra Guha,(Read), the Indian social, environmental & cricket historian - Most famous for his "India After Gandhi","What we think of America" & the cricket history "A corner of a foreign Field".
His Op-Ed is more of a personal insight on the in-fighting amongst communities in the vast nation. Its an interesting read, but I beg to differ with his opinion that a fifth war between the two countries is imminent.
I also disagree with the statement:
"I met one of the last seven Hindu families in Lahore"
I personally know at least 5 PH(=Punjabi Hindu's for the un-initiated :)), families in Lahore - Pretty affluent one's at that. (There are even more Hindu's in Sindh. - A lot of them quite well off & admit to having a better life than they would have in India).
The other one:
"As I bumped into one worshiper, I was seized by panic. In one pocket of my kurta lay my wallet; in the other, an exquisite little statue of the Hindu god Ganesh, dancing. I am not a believer, but this was my mascot, a gift from my sister, carried whenever I was separated from my wife and little children. What if it now fell out and was seized upon by the crowd? How would that turn out — an infidel discovered in a Muslim shrine, an Indian visitor illegally in Lahore?"
Again Guha sahib, your fears have are misplaced.
If you knew more about Pakistani society, you would be aware of the fact that Islam in this region was spread by Sufi's & none of the shrines are sacred to a singular cast or creed.
Everyday a large # of Hindu's, Parsi's, Christians & even Sikhs visit shrines like Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi in Karachi or Golra Sharif in Lahore. (These are just 2 common examples).
Hundred's of Hindu's visit Ajmer Sharif daily. Even though its India.
More than fear, it is the mistrust that has been formed & exploited by the Religious right in both countries. As Liberals we should condemn this school of thought & try to quell down such feelings rather than creating doubts for people who may not be aware & educated on the cultures.
The second Op-Ed is by our very own Mohsin Hamid.
(I was told recently that "The Reluctant Fundamentalist" won him a Bookers prize. Surprising as I found the book to be over-hyped for & incomplete. - Could have said more than it did.
I've been wanting to do a write-up on it for a few weeks, but due to the lack of time & cohesive thoughts, have been unable to do so.......but that's neither here or there).
The piece is a great short, yet somewhat depressing version of the traumatic life of the Nation that is Pakistan.
A nation that has been used, abused & confused by forces both external & internal - All working on their own perverted agendas - Yet, even after 60 years of shenanigans there is hope for things to turn around.........Lets just hope History doesn't repeat itself and all the negatives continue to get underwhelmed by positive forces :).
Hope springs eternal. Right?!

With Comic-Con about to happen in San Diego,
There had been rumors for weeks that Warner will announce something big & since the smallest bit gets fan
The first website to pop-up was Why So Serious?, (since then it takes you to "Rent-A-Clown", which shows random 'Jokerised' faces)(More on that below).
The website had a 'counter' & some coordinates to a location, which turned out to be right opposite the convention center.
As the clock wound down to zero, The following # started to appear in the sky.
(also a vid posted by one of the bystanders. Listen to the joy! :P).
Those who called the # (1-800-395-9646), got a recorded message. If you're lazy, You know you are!, listen to it here.(.mp3)
So im expecting you to have heard the message.
Good.
Its a nervous man with someone, whom we can only presume is the Joker, being made to read the message.
The Joke is, "How many clowns does it take to get a good laugh?".
The answer is "Four Hundred and One" (401).
Apparently this turns out to be an inside-joke....and leads to the mans death.
(btw the clues were 'button up' & '401'.....incase you dint get it
Onto stage two then.
Up next was some stuff about The Joker’s admiration of Jack the Ripper…
This was just some BS, BUT it had a attached .mp3 that contained random laughter.
The thing here was to catch the "dots" & "dashes". ala Morse code. (Infernal Affairs anyone?
The code was de-ciphered as “Mountebank”, typing which, fans were directed to challenge 3/8.
Next the ground-staff (ppl participating in the challenge), had to go under treatment. i.e become "pretty". (these btw are the folks whose pictures are on the Rent-A-Joker site).
The next step was to "become a cohort of the Joker". An Anagram quickly deciphered to mean “Crime of Passion.”
For stage 3, the ground-staff had to get to a location where one of them would get a keyphrase, which would move them to checkpoint 4.
The phrase btw was “head games.”
Entering the key phrase gave a little article/interview on J.
The clue here was the mention of a prison-cell. And what does a standard in prison cell's ?
Why the 74 bars ofcourse?! (Nah. I dint have a clue either!).
Checkpoint 5 was broken into 2 parts.
Part 1 was a location & some trivia/research on the J. (I so wanted to write The Jizzle right there
It asked about a lawyer who accidentally shot himself in 1871. This resulted in his defendant (accused of murder) getting acquitted. Turns out the lawyer’s name was “Vallandigham.” Naturally (!!
For that, the ground staff had to go to the given location and find out the real name of "Dr Death". Which ofcourse, turned out to be, “Gaslamp Dan Haslam”. (First the lawyers name & now this....I think the person who designed this is probably a Nazi! Typing Dr.Death's real name led to Checkpoint 6.
This again was a twofer. A Location and a series of cards.
Those with keen-eyes observed that not all the cards were aligned and similar in shape. It was figured that since their total of 26 was the same # as the Alphabets in the English language, the larger cards would spell something. Indeed!. The larger cards yielded "Unforgivable". This code provided further information on the earlier location (in cp6), Somewhere around there would be a statue of a father teaching his son how to use “a weapon”. It also alerted of hidden cameras…and advised to..... smile. Of course!
Whilst the ground staff searched for the above mentioned statue, the folks glued to the site got an update on J's Police-Files. This, like the admiration article was gibberish, but those with keen-eyes - or those who clicked on the word "knife", got a very special sneak-peek at Heath Ledger as the J-Man, tormenting the lovely Maggie G as Rachel.
Here's a screen of the scene & since its kinda hard to come by now. YW! Back to the challenge.
The statue turned out to be a man teaching his kid how to play Baseball.
GENIUS. (I don't think I need to point out the numerous times J has used a club, bat to pummel a victim).
The code, - Baseball Bat - led to the penultimate Checkpoint. #7.
Yet again this one was a two part. A Location and a puzzle.
This time the Joker tells us how newspaper clippings are useful in creating a Ransom Note. (Classic J again. In fact, I remember, as a kid, getting very fascinated by such stunts).
The code here turned out to be the word:
Larceny.
“lar·ce·ny Stealing something…or someone unlawfully. Hmm....that's unlike the man in question!
When Larceny was typed in, J gave new instructions.
Find the Gothom Girl Scout. Attack her And steal her cookies.
In words of J, "The Ground squad is probably Hungry". How Nice The Code here turned out to be "Starve".
Up next. Checkpoint 8.
The giddy user got a picture of a Bomb with a timer running down. But instead of exploding, you got a very Joker-esque surprise. - The reader of the bomb said: “HA HA HA”.
The groundstaff were told to head back to these vans....where they received 'Beauty Kits' for their efforts. The folks online however had to figure out the next code all by themselves. What could it be!?. The only clues were "HA HA HA". = 6 letters. The bomb was a representation of death. 6 letters and death.....hmmm....wat? waHt?? WHAT!? could it be?.
I know Reaper!. (as in The Grim Reaper!). (Btw, ppl shared this quickly & nicely. Not a common trait on the internets, especially when one's hoping for a prize!).
Entering the Code led to second (or does this make it third?) part of checkpoint. And this time only the groundstaff were involved. They had to submit a license plate #, of one of the Vanity Vans.
The number ended up being 2971759, entering which lead to the Grand Finale!
A teaser trailer for TDK.
.........Which was So, totally LAME-O! Since this trailer had already leaked-out 2 days earlier & most of the ppl excited by the challenge would have already seen it!.
But its still pretty kool.
.
Oh And the first member of the ground-staff to enter the code was also given an opportunity to participate in TDK's Next Viral Marketing. (Promised in December).
This is just a teaser with voiceover's.
Here's the teaser commercial,
Which along with the Bourne trailer is probably one of the best ones of this decade!.
Whats best, this is a FAN creation. Yup. Brilliant!.
Check it:
Man!, Heath L looks Awesome!
All the participants got Joker Masks as a consolation.

You have admit. This movie probably has THE BEST MARKETING. -EVER!....In tEH history of EVERNESS!. Well, at least the Kraziest Fans!.
In Checkpoint 8, when the ground-squad was told to get back to their vans, this kick-ass Chevy Escalade with Gothom plates pulled over and took in a Lucky Fan -probably a plant-. Photo's were later found of this man...beaten up.
Neat!
