1/30/2008 The greatest game console of all time?C|Net's Crave blog has a posting "The greatest game console of all time?" where the writer gives his take on the big-guns.
Most of the people I know would say a ps2 but I think they are bias or idiots. (Yup. You read that correctly!).
I agree that, for a boy atleast, a console is much more than just a machine you play games on.
It becomes part of who you are and the memories associated stay with you much longer than that generations life cycle.
For my money, what the original PS did for the gaming market as a whole is award worthy & on merit its tough choosing against it.
But I would still go for the Original NES.
I got the system when I was around 5-6 years old & for a decade I lived on the handfull of games that I was given, but the memories I have, the things I've experienced sitting infront of the tv with the grey box plugged in.
There's not much that can top that & I'm sure these will stay with me long after my kids get their first game machine.
And NES vs everything else, How can you top Double Dragon II or Donkey Kong or Super Mario Bros.3 or DUCK HUNT.
Yes! How can ANYTHING top Duck Hunt!?? jib jabbIt's been a busy week for me.
Either been at work, out an about or sleeping at home. Have not had a chance to sit around the pc, thus the lack of posts. Sorry about that.
Been listening to old(er) cd's that I have in the car.
Evanescence's Anywhere but home. I love this one. From one of their concerts in Paris & its awesome from start to finish.
Trentmoller has been another one.
Big fan of the swede & the Bonus disc of The Last Resort has been getting plays.
A friend lent me his latest, that totally got past me.
Its called The Chronicles and is more like b-sides/rarities than a 'best of'.
Its a 2 disk album. Disk one has a few demo's and rarities along with some re-edits of his tracks.
Disk two meanwhile is all of the popular remixes he's done & wroks like "Moby - Go", "Robyn - Konichiwa Bitches", "The Knife - We Share Our Mothers Health" & the AMAZING "Royksopp - What Ekse Is There" will get instant recognition.
With a total of 23 tracks there is plenty of stuff here that will please Andres' fans and new comers alike. Check it out if you can get hold of it.
Another album has been the new release by The Cardigans. Its called 'Best Of' and catalogs their highlights from 1992-2005.
I borrowed this from my gf for even though i loved My Fravorite Game, I really dont know much about the Swedish band.
Only listened to Cd 1 and the style of music has been surprising.
I was under the impression that these guys were Rock & not to say they are not - at least not Rock in the 'traditional' way - The music has been more of an easy listen with the melodies paying a generous compliment to Nina Persson's vocals.
Disk 2 focuses on their earlier carrear with some "lost" tracks, demo's and uncut versions of their tracks. Have not heard it, but going by disk one it should be perfect as car music or something playing in the back ground when you're hanging out with friends. Something that isnt too distracting.
Couple of Articles that caught my eye.
The Globe reports: Maharishi retreats into silence. Never heard of the man before nor can I fathom the idea of sitting in meditation. I guess I'm too immature.
Silence can be a blessing sometimes and anything that relives stress is probably a good thing, but shutting your trap for extended periods and only putting your mind to a singular topic.......sounds kinda.....stressfull!
Sundays NYT Mag had a very interesting article: Waving Goodbye to Hegemony.
The writer looks at the increasing Globalisation and how decisions are being made cross continent. Dont be scared by the lenght for its not that long once you start reading it.
Finally, check out C|Net/Webware's coverage of Demo. Its the yearly convention where folks show off their new programs and technologies.
SceneWeaver is something I'd be really interested in. There are some other cool updates there as well including invites to Seesmic (The Video Twitter). If you're interested in the Mobile version, you'll have to own a N95.
Speaking of invites, I have a few for Jaiku & Popfly. Hit me up if interested. 1/27/2008 Please dont fall on me!CNN reports:
Satellite is weeks away from hitting EarthI hope they shoot the damn thing down and not be so cavilier about it as to suggest
"Numerous satellites over the years have come out of orbit and fallen harmlessly. We are looking at potential options to mitigate any possible damage this satellite may cause."
We don't want AVP to become real now do we? 1/26/2008 Get SmartThe official trailer for Steve Carell + Anne Hathaway + Rock + Bill Murray = Get Smart.
![]() Trailer:
The trailer looks pretty un-funny. (Stuff like Jackie Chan's The Tuxedo & Atkinson's Johnny English come to mind. Hot females, crazy 'agent', terrible over the top plot - you get the point).
But decent comedies are few and far so hopefully the end product is better.
We'll see. 1/25/2008 Loose ScrewsFirst up is the track 'The Girl You Lost to Cocaine' by the fast rising Auzzie crooner Sia Furler (official)(Myspace)(wiki) which gets the Sander van Doorn treatment. (btw, SIA is more popularly known for lending her vocals for ZERO 7).
Its quite different from traditional Sander works in that, its more of minimal than his usual style of deep trance.
It may not be the best sounding tune of the bunch, but I guarantee its going to be HUGE at the WMC and in sets during spring.

Staying with girls from down under, here's one you'll better recognize:
Kylie - Wow (Fuck Me I'm Famous Remix by David Guetta & Joachim Garraud) (divs)
This is classic stuff from the Frenchmen. The bumpy beats from start to finish along with Kylie's pop vocals will have you putting them him-replacements to work!
Already getting plays in recent sets, look for this one to cross over to mainstream radio charts!
Flo Rida's been scoring hits with his recent collaboration with Timbaland for Elevator.
This track though is called Get Low & the mixing duties are handled by Benja Styles.
Flo Rida - Get Low (Benja Styles la la land Clean Rdio Edit)
(divs)
This next one here is a real piece of work. Its a mix by a guy who goes by 'Dirty Disco Youths'
![]() & this is how he describes his work.
![]() Here's something to keep you warm in the bloody cold winter that were having.
From the biggest duo of 2007, a track that reeks of Ibiza
Steve Angello & Sebastian Ingrosso - Click (Wally Lopez Factomania Mix)(Zshare).
The Frenchman Laurent Wolf follows up his break-through hit 'The Wolf' with the latest House bombshell & Its fucking awesome.Listen for yourself!
Laurent Wolf - No Stress (Extended Mix)
(divs)
![]() Another fellah who had a HUGE 07 is Deadmau5. Everything this boy touched seemed to turn to Gold!
After scoring remix hits off Daft Punk, Cirez D & Jelo, The Canadian is now working his magic on Longest Road by Morgan Page.
The track takes about 3 minutes to take off, but boy is it worth it!.
Morgan Page - Longest Road (Deadmau5 Remix)
(divs)
Track of the week
Been listening to this one since Monday & it keeps growing on me.
![]() Goldfrapp - A&E - (Gui Boratto Remix)
(divs)
Goldfrapp's answer to Kylie? That's for you to decide.
I'm just looking forward to the follow up to a proper follow up to 'Supernature' (We are Glitter does not count).
With all the new found Goldfrapp lovers, I'm sure its an eagerly awaited HIT!

I got tunes for joo!Anybody who knows me (or has visited the blog a few times) would know that I listen to a lot of Music.
I'ts only nice to share some love.
Hence, I'm going to start a new weekly feature that, as the catagory suggests,
will bring you some of the best tunes I've heard during the week - Every friday!.
Ill try to keep it a mixed bag, but the majority will probably be house/trance/dance & techno. Something to Move to over the weekend
.mp3 files will be direct links via file names. (The title will be highlighted in another color. Usually Yellow).
If a hosting/sharing service has been used, the link would be in a bracket next to the file name.
Example: abc (Zshare),(ysi),(divs) etc.
Make sure you keep a watch for them & make sure to tell all your firends ;).
As usual comments and suggestions are welcome :).
All 'good' things kill you! :{Woke up to find 3 copies of an article in my inbox.
Whats wierd about that??
Well nothing. Unless you've had 0.5 litres (500ml/2glasses) of Coke the night before and the article headline reads
Too Much Cola Can Cause Kidney Problems. How much is 'too much'? 2 glasses of course!
*shakes head*
Granted I dont have 'A Lot' of cola's regularly, but why is it that every other week someone comes out and says the 'good' stuff in life will probably lead to your death!.
The Good news though is that its just a stupid study & if recent 'studies' are to be belived;
Using Wifi leads to Autism & Cell Phones/Microwave Ovens cause cancer.
Another study claimed that Condi Rice is really really Sex-EH!
I rest my case :). 1/24/2008 The Secret behind T9 input.Watch and laugh!
PS: I doubt people reading this wont know what T9 is for those who don't, Its the 'predictive text' input method on your cell phone. And yes the video was funny! Im Moving to TurkeyTo live in a 1-Up house!

Do check it out cause I've added over 20+ mixes, tracks, pictures and other media.
I had two other posts going on side-by-side. Got too tired to continue and exited the browser without thinking!
Thats about 4 pages Ill have to re-write & as much as that may sound like a relief, I promise it was great stuff.
No worries though. You'll just have to wait for tomorrow.
In the main time though. Check the post above for some Hot-Chip action.....Cause I'm THAT nice! 1/23/2008 Death of the Album?? I hope not.For those who missed Steve Guttenberg's blog entry of CNET's Audiophiliac Blog yesterday, check it out.
For those too lazy to read, he opinionates on Mark Cubans recent comments on how people are buying singles and the conecpt of albums is on borrowed time. You can read that here.
I'm not a big Cuban fan. He's an obnoxious pig who speaks more than he should.
Irrespective of that he is good at what he does & looking at the numbers on sales, its the smart thing to say that sales of albums are down.
Personally I see it two ways.
a) Most of the people buying singles online are under the age of 30.
To put it mildly, the entire age spectrum is fucked up. We gobble whatever hype thats pushed down our throat, irrespective of the quality of content.
Just look at Amazon.com & their 'Best Selling Tracks of 2007' list. Out of the top 50, only 8 tracks would play without having me reach for the forward button.
And if you still want proof that people dont know wtf they are talking about. Crank That by Soulja Boy.
No self respecting individual can keep a straight face and tell me that its a "good" song.
b) A lot that troubles the music industry is the fault of the fat cats at record labels.
Album sales is no different. Nost of the music is rushed and even pre-itunes days they focused on singles rather than the entire product.
Most of the time the "best" (and by best I mean most 'sellable') track was turned into a video & given the most possible coverage on TV & Radio.
What resulted was the majority of the tracks being garbage.
You can not justify people to pay $20+ if 50% (in most cases the number is higher) of the tracks are rubbish.
If however the album as a whole is good, it will sell well.
Look at In Rainbows by Radiohead or Gravitys Rainbow by Klaxons.
The majority of the tracks on the albums are very good. They've had 3+ hit singles and resulted in the release of videos and singles, not to mention healthy album sales.
These are but two examples. There are many others with the trend being that if the product as a whole is good, it will sell well. Maybe slower than the pre-internet glory days, when we did not have the options of reviewing before purchase and were more easily tricked into forking out hard cash for something that we would regret after a single listen.
Moral of the story, If you concentrate on what you have and make album that has more than 1-2 good songs, people will be willing to pay the price.
Otherwise you can live short term on 99c tunes.
1/22/2008 :(Just read on NYTimes
First thing that came to my mind was;
"huh? No it cant be. Heath Ledger is so young. Must be some other guy."
Tragic. I've written about him plenty of times and its no secret how much i am/was looking forward to watching him enact the role of Joker in TDK.
You only have to watch 'A Knights Tale' to see what a fine actor he was.
Whats worst is that his young daughter is gonna grow up without a father :(.
Puts things into prespective. Should be more carefull in the decisions we make since the consequences affect those around us as well.
Impailed Undies!I dont think I know a single person who does not have a messy wardrdobe, infact most of the people I know have worn/messy clothes strewn in their rooms.
Well, no more.
Presenting the WARDROM!
![]() Instead of throwing all your clothes on a chair or across the room floor, chuck them on a funky colored peg!.
Check out Yanko Design for the story and a few more pictures.
This things great - until someone careless like me Impales themselves on it or even worse - Tear up a precious garment!
Designed by Paula Studios in Rome, Italy. Each panel costs $9.99 and you have the option of choosing your own colors for the pegs.
Order yours today!
PS: Apologies for all the spelling mistakes and errors.
Feel a bit under the weather today + Henin loosing to Sharapova dint really help. (God bless Maria, but I cannot stand her yelps, grunts and screams - Haunting!).
Hopefully will feel normal by morning & if nothing else; got Frederer vs Blake qf tomorrow.
(Its not gonna be as one sided as you think. Blakes improved quite a lot over the past year + he's a really nice guy with a 'story' that gets less attention than it should).
Mahatma + Cheeseburgers = AwesomenessIn case anyone out there does not know who Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (aka Mahatma Gandhi) was, check out wiki. I've played with a lot of Lego's & its good to see them still around and getting up with times (!!). "Inspired by the upcoming birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr., this is the first in a series of posts celebrating the men and women who struggle to make this world a better place, especially those who work toward peace, human rights, and protection of the environment."(Brothers Brick). The lil guy seems to be twice the thickness of Mahatma in his prime! Talking of environmentalist's though, they'll probably bring out one of Al Gore. I've never seen a fat Lego before! Daily fix of the Barbarian!Forgot to post this one yesterday.
Conan vs Colbert. Its got some awesome one liners - clearly these boys arnt missing their writing staff much!
These guys are supposed to be buds in their normal lives, so dont buy the whole 'smackdown' thing.
Regardless it makes for great tv!
PS: Some people have been having problems watching the vid. In case it does not load up, you can always grab the .flv file here (15.6 mb file). 1/21/2008 How can you Not love this man??I've said it before & here it is again:
Conan is HI-Larious! - regardless of what some people may think.
He's smart. He's Funny and OHMYGODWILLYOULOOKATTHATPICTURE!:
![]() From the EW story: "Conan O'Brien's Strike Diary Revealed!" 1/20/2008 Come out of retierment - Oh Nigerian Prince! :P
70% of all e-mail messages sent in 2007 were spam/junk. Thankfully I have filters in place that rarely let crap pass through.
However I came across a message yesterday that had me in raptures. Read on
From: Alan Organ (horticoconsultings@yahoo.com)
From a 'Nigerian Prince' to more recently a Chinese businessman who is 'being persecuted by the communist government' & now to a Britsh born Russian who a) can not form proper sentences in English. b) Did not know that 'his close friend' one who he was 'a personal assistant for over 12 years' was all alone in the whole wide world (single, no kids, no relatives!) c) not to mention RICH!
Sad part is that perople actually fall for this crap!.
Just for fun! - Ex-'President of Lukoil'---hahahaha! I wonder what Vagit Alekperov will have to say about that! - Galina died in the bomb blasts in Bali's night club district......at the age of 65!.......Wtf was a 65yr old doing shaking her ass in disco's??? 'testing' her hip replacements!? - The funds are held with a security firm who will hand them over to the British Commision & from there to Organ - even though he has no relation to the deceased 'owner' - if he can pay off the taxes! Nice! 1/19/2008 Speechless: ME!Wow. What a match!
In case you're wondering what I'm on about, info via espn or tennis.com.(Note: At the moment these are just initial reports. As the day passes you should be able to get more coverage).
The greatest player of our time vs a relatively unknown Serb ranked 49 in the world.
Match score 6-7 (5), 7-6 (1), 5-7, 6-1, 10-8.
Match time <4 hours.
I just watched the bloody thing & even I'm exhuasted!
40 Ace's by the champ & still got pushed to the limits.
If not for Fredrer's resolve and attitude he would have been out of the the tournament he's 3 times defending champion.
3+ weeks of absolutely no competetive tennis would be a great excuse but crediit should be given to Tipsarvic for pushing on.
Like we saw in the Wimbeldon final, even the best wilt when Roger puts on the pressure (Nadal).
If you dint get a chance to watch the match - Pity!
Try and catch a re-run or grab it off of Bit-torrent.
Worth it!
1/17/2008 Come here mof**ker!Superbad and Knocked Up were two of the biggest hits in 2007.
I dint see the hoopla surrounding the former, but enjoyed the second. (Along with Aptrow/Carell "40 year old virgin").
Aptrow joined Funny or Die recently & imho this is his best work (so far):
Aptrow looks terrified + Paul Rudd "Last time I saw Judd run so fast, someone dropped a quater" & "I thought Michael Clayton was the bassist for u2"
Hilarious! :P
